Secretary-General's Message on World Down Syndrome Day, 21 March 2012

World Down Syndrome Day increases public awareness, understanding and acceptance of Down Syndrome.

God's gifts put man's best dreams to shame.

Our gift is Ivan.  He is thirteen years old and he has Down Syndrome.  He is quite a joy.  We do our best to fill his life with enriching, stimulating experiences that help him explore the world and become as self sufficient and self confident as possible . He has overcome many medical problems.  He has potential and opportunity.  We need to  teach him, challenge him and care for him.  The goals do not change because of the ability of the child or the presence of a disability.

We invite you to become aware of and accept Down Syndrome.  It's good for your heart and soul.  This is Ivan in the photograph's with his brother and sisters.  We love him.  He's the best.
